Board of Directors

Mark Alberts

My wife, Meg, and I have two daughters, Audrey (10) and Elizabeth (7). We have belonged to the Rivi since 2012, and it has been an important part of our lives since then. Our girls have been dedicated swim team members since Water Wizards and have also enjoyed Rivi camps and other activities. As a family, we enjoy the pools, of course, for both recreation and exercise. Meg and I are regular users of the fitness facilities and have greatly appreciated the growth and improvements in these areas over the last several years. I have volunteered with the marathon/half-marathon training programs and look forward to participating in more group fitness activities.

In work, I am a life and health insurance actuary. For those unfamiliar with the profession, actuaries are financial professionals who often describe ourselves as experts in financial risk management, but I tend to think of us as the mathematicians of insurance. After 20 years working for insurance companies, I started my own consulting firm in 2008 and have been on my own ever since. I now consult to primarily to insurance companies, insurance regulators, and non-profits related to the insurance or pension industries.

With my financial expertise, experience serving on and reporting to corporate boards, and experience as a small business owner, I have skills that I believe can benefit Rivi. After volunteering extensively for a professional membership organization over the last 10 years, I’m ready to turn my volunteer efforts closer to home. This is an exciting time at the Rivi, with enormous changes over the last several years and great opportunity to build on those changes over the next several years. I’m excited to help in that effort.
