HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR COMMUNITY!

The innovative Community Partnership Program (CPP) was launched in 2006 and The Riviera Club is adding more CPP partners every month.  Please contact Marlene Hatch, Membership Director (255-5471, mhatch@rivi.org), if you know of a not-for-profit neighborhood organization that would be a prospect for the Community Partnership.

Butler Tarkington Neighborhood Association

The Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood Association is the oldest neighborhood association in the country. The Butler-Tarkington neighborhood lies within the northwest quadrant of the old city limits of Indianapolis, bordered by 38th and Meridian Streets and the old Central Canal. It draws its name from Butler University, which relocated to the district in 1928, and Booth Tarkington, a well known Hoosier author who at one time maintained his home in the area on Meridian Street.

The BTNA Purpose: To enhance neighborhood livability, to maintain open communication with state and local government and other neighborhoods and neighborhood associations, to involve neighbors in neighborhood activities, to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, to defend human and civil rights, and to combat juvenile delinquency.

John Barth, President

The Town of Meridian Hills, established in 1937, is a relaxed residential neighborhood on the north side of Indianapolis. Mature trees, winding streams and hilly terrain define the town, while churches, synagogues, schools and a country club help add to the sense of community. The town borders Holliday Park and Marrott Park, with easy access to the Monon Trail, Nora and Broad Ripple.

Approximately 1800 residents live in the 715 homes in the 2 square mile Town of Meridian Hills. The town government provides supplemental police protection, ongoing maintenance and upkeep of streets and right-of-ways, and enforcement of residential building and development standards set forth in the municipal code.

The Town of Meridian Hills is a great place to live, work and play. For more information, attend our Town Council meeting the second Monday of every month at 7pm at the Hilbert Early Education Center at Park Tudor School, email one of our town officials, or contact our Town Hall at (317) 459-7708.

Rocky Ripple Community Association

Town of Rocky Ripple

Incorporated in 1927and originally comprised mainly of fishing cottages, Rocky Ripple, Ind., has blossomed as a great place to live. Only 10 minutes from downtown with the feel of a small town, it is truly the country in the city.

Many houses have a view of the White River or the Indianapolis Water Company Canal, and the accompanying wildlife such as heron, wood ducks, eagles, ospreys, and beaver, to name a few. Recreational opportunities include canoeing in the river, biking, jogging or walking on the Central Canal Towpath.

The Town of Rocky Ripple is located in Marion County, outside of the original boundaries of Indianapolis. To the east is the Indianapolis Water Company Canal, to the west is the White River, they meet at the north, and Butler University athletic fields are to the south. We have two bridges that cross the canal at 52nd and 53rd Streets. These are the only ways in or out of town, and they result in many people getting lost in Rocky Ripple. Hence the bumper sticker ...

Woodruff Place

www.woodruffplace.com

Considered to be the first suburb of Indianapolis, Woodruff Place was platted in 1872 by entrepreneur  James Orton Woodruff. Hailing from Auburn, New York, Woodruff came to Indianapolis initially to help implement a new city water system. Later, he turned his attention to the development of a 77-acre woods on the outskirts of town. It was the last stop on the Indianapolis horse drawn trolley going east on Michigan Street.
